My name is Tânia Araújo and I’m a Portuguese graphic designer. For more than ten years I was working in Portuguese web agencies as a web designer / developer while doing wine label and other graphic design projects as a freelancer.

After finishing my Master’s degree in Graphic Design, I realised I wanted more from life than just doing office work. I decided to quit my job, sell everything and I embraced an adventure in SE Asia, to become a scuba dive instructor and to pursue a career as professional photographer – something I always loved before and did as a hobby.

In September 2014, I travelled to Indonesia to join Nihiwatu Resort, in Sumba (one of the most unique, amazing and exquisite luxurious resorts in the world), where I stayed one year as a resident photographer. Sumba is one of the most remote and raw islands in Indonesia, and I soon fell in love by the people, the landscapes, the culture, the architecture and the food.

For the past 2 years, my work has been featured in several worldwide magazines and websites, including: Harper’s Bazaar Interiors,The Independent, Condé Nast Traveler China, Esquire Singapore, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph UK, The Peak Magazine Singapore, Hong Kong Tatler and Forbes Live Travel.

I also had the chance to travel to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, and I couldn’t be happier to travel and work in such beautiful and inspiring places. I love to capture all the beautiful landscapes, the wildlife, the truly smile of the people and also discovered the adrenaline of getting the perfect surf photo.

My photography style is natural and spontaneous. I love to capture details and the moment, without poses or rehearsals.
